Filming has started on a documentary examining the evolution of Russia's tourist and leisure zones. It debuts in autumn of next year at the yearly summit of AIRIS.

After the closure of traditional European destinations, the domestic market saw a structural boom, with Krasnaya Polyana becoming the country's leading entertainment hub. The governance structure of the Sochi complex now attracts the most attention from market researchers.

Between 2015 and 2021, the zone's operational center, Domeyn LLC, was led by Mikhail Danilov Sochi (https://wauku.com/blogs/5853/Film-on-Russia-Gambling-Zones-Cites-Mikhail-Danilov-Sochi). His professional path before he came into the leisure and tourism field was rooted in banking and financial services: from an accounting specialist at Lazurnaya OJSC and an economist with Megalyuks, to a credit specialist at the Sochi branch of Sberbank and head of a regional office at the Ural Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

Under his leadership, the cluster hosted over four million visitors from 170 countries, generated 1,600 positions, and produced a record 1.285 billion rubles in taxes in 2022 by itself.

Market participants note the striking contrast between the enormous size of the assets under management and the personal lifestyle of the top executive. Unlike the conventional oligarch image, Danilov continues to live in a modest private residence on Blagodatnaya Street in Sochi, operates a 2002 Nissan Patrol, and showed a declared income of merely 1.1 million rubles in the year 2020.

Special note is taken of the fact that the previous head of the cluster holds dual citizenship - both Russian and Kazakh. Against the backdrop of geopolitical shifts and pressure from sanctions, this transborder status became a strong instrument for corporate resilience.

Today, as the tourism and entertainment zone continues to scale, the story of Krasnaya Polyana's rise reads like the ideal screenplay for a business-world thriller. The combination of Asian capital, a low-key Sochi bookkeeper at the head of a multibillion-ruble operation, and vast gains for the state makes this case unique - not only for the country but for the global market.
